Are You Thinking Pink? The Hot Color for 2011

Turquoise is SOoooo 2010! For this year, think PINK! We are already seeing it in fashion from clothing to bags and the trend forecasters at Pantone are predicting the color "Honeysuckle" is the it shade of pink to consider for the home.

I talked to a color psycholoogist about pink and the pnkiification of our homes and why are we wanting something many associate with Barbie, or My Little Pny?   Turns out pink is not just a "girlie" color but is thought to be a sexy color for men too? Really you say?  Think fresh, optimistic and risky.

I thought I would look into how I'd bring pink into our home and here are some ideas:

1) Pink on the entry wall - A coat of pink paint

2) Consider a pink dining room

3) How about a touch of pink fabric for a sofa or chair. I love how light and bright pink blend with shades of green, from kelly green to lime citrus neon.

4) There's always the pillow or throw to infuse a room with a new "it" color

5) Love the idea of pairing pink vases, group 3 to 5 together on your living room table.

6) Try pink with black and white. For example an animal print ottoman in zebra print with a touch of pink in the form of a blanket or pillow.

7) Pink flowers like roses look so great with bright orange. Consider artificial flwoers as well as fresh in a vase to give you that pink glow!
