E-Waste Recycling

We love our electronics – TV’s, computers, cellphones. But when we want the new hot gadget or electronic toy, and it's out with the old and in with the new, we can't forget that old technology can pose a hazard to the environment and to people because stuff inside. It all depends on how it's dealt with as e-waste . or electronic waste.
Every day 130 thousand computers are turned into a recycler. 100 million cell phones every year. It’s all part of the growing mound of e-waste, electronic waste, which really wasn’t on our radar screen as recently as 10 years ago. Here Dana Jung, of E-Waste Center in Los Angeles, sheds light on how to keep those hazardous materials from ending up in landfills, the mistakes consumers can make with their old electronics and how to know if where you are turning in your e-waste is going to a safe place.
