Top Ten So Cal Plants
Looking to save water in the garden is mostly about finding the right plants that aren’t as thirsty and thrive in your garden zone or climate. In Southern California you should consider what the L.A. County Arboretum calls its Top Ten Plants. On the list are plants from similar climates like Australia: Australian Fuscia, Wakiti Sunrise, Zigzag Wattle, and Hop Bush. And be sure to try the SouthWesternSpecial – a favorite in my garden, Sephora Secundiflora – purple flowers that smell like grape bubblegum. Curator of the LA County Arboretum, Jill Morgenelli shares all the ideas.
