The Making of the Rose Parade Floats
Tuesday, December 29, 2009 They are joking about making "Margaritas" but actually blenders are an important tool in float making for the Pasadena Tournament of Roses! It is one of many secrets used by the volunteers and professional designers who create and assemble the floats we'll see on New Year's Day.
Here in one of several "barns" where the floats are put together in the week before "showtime" - volunteers use blenders to grind up dried flowers for what becomes easier to apply to the float but also more realistic looking for those exquisite details. FYI - it takes at least 60 volunteers to put just one float together!
